Spent my Xmas holidays at a family-run hotel and had an enjoyable experience. The staff was hospitable and prepared delicious meals at fair prices. The location was key, just a three-minute walk from the beach and main road, avoiding the noisy central area. the owner provided a fantastic surf instructor for guests interested in learning.
Although humidity was prevalent at night, it was tolerable by opening windows and hiding behind the mosquito net. However, the kitchenette was minimal, so cooking wasn't an option.

Spent my Easter at a family home near the beach in Sri Lanka. the kids were so cute and the hosts were amazing - always there to help us and make us feel at home. They offered us an authentic Sri Lankan meal that was so delicious. Fresh juices and coconuts were available every day.
The room we stayed in was a bit small and the bathroom wasn't the best. But this is expected when staying in a family home and we didn't expect posh accommodation.
